About us
點問頓華埠中文圖書館,是在中華文化中心理事會策劃與社會各界人士的通力合作下建成的,是華人在海外傳播中華文化及推廣加國多元文化政策的場所,現在正朝着健康成長的方向蓬勃發展。
The Edmonton Chinatown Chinese Library was built under the planning and cooperation of the Chinese Cultural Centre Council. It is a place to spread Chinese culture overseas and promote diversity and multicultural knowledge in Canada. The library is now heading towards a flourishing growth in achieving our goal.
多年以來,中文圖書館得到了中國駐卡爾加里總領事館的大力支持,每個月都能定期收到從中國、香港郵寄過來的最新的DVD;還定期收到大陸僑辦、溫哥華領事館、台灣僑聯以及不同省份僑辦贈送的雜誌、報紙等;同時,也得到了許多熱心人士的個人捐贈以及捐款,這些都為擴大圖書館的藏書,為讀者提供更多更好的服務。許多義工也貢獻他們自己的時間,來為中文圖書館的建設出力,使中文圖書館得以順利地發展。
Over the years, the Chinese Library has received strong support from the Chinese Consulate General in Calgary, and regularly receives the latest DVDs from China and Hong Kong every month as well as magazines and newspapers donated by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of different provinces. At the same time, it has also received personal donations and donations from many enthusiastic people, which are all to expand the library's collection and provide readers with more and better services. Many volunteers also volunteered their own time to contribute to the construction of the Chinese library in order for the library to develop smoothly.
圖書館歷史
我們從3年前開館時的3700的各種館藏,到現在的2万;會員從最初的零,發展到現在的600。會員不僅有來自世界各地的華人,也有想學中文的其他族裔朋友;館藏不僅有普通話、廣東話的DVD,還有中英雙語介紹中國文化和歷史的紀錄片;不僅有中文圖書,而且還有介紹中國文化的英文圖書;不僅有簡體字,還有繁體字的圖書供不同讀者群閱讀。
Established for three years, we have grown from 3700 collections to 20000 and from zero members to 600. The members of the library consist of people within the Chinese community and beyond as there are many other people interested in learning about Chinese culture. Collections vary from Cantonese and Mandarin books to English books that discuss Chinese culture. The collections include both simplified and traditional characters.
圖書館同時還擁有現代化的圖書網絡管理系統,具備在網上檢索、續借、預約等功能。與此同時,圖書館除了為華人提供各類圖書及音像資料的服務外,還聯合其他社團,共同舉辦各種各樣的文化交流活動,類似于家庭園藝講座、兒童故事會、教老外學中文、讀書會，老年人学IPad、IPhone等。我們期待有更多的人能夠來這裡分享這個公共資源,讓更多人了解中華文明的悠久歷史和文化傳統。
The library also has a modern book network management system, with functions such as online retrieval, renewal and reservation. At the same time, the library not only provides services of various books and audio-visual materials for the Chinese, but also cooperates with other associations to hold various cultural exchange activities, such as home gardening lectures, children's story meetings, teaching foreigners to learn Chinese, Reading clubs, the elderly learn IPad, IPhone, etc. We hope that more people can come here to share this public resource, so that more people can understand the long history and cultural traditions of Chinese civilization.

讀者還可通過上網查詢，續借各種書籍、期刊和影像。Readers can also check online to renew books, periodicals and videos.
同時，聯合其他社團及機構,共同舉辦各種文化交流活動, 目前有家庭園藝講座、兒童故事會、青少年曆史講座、金融理財講座、常青會、老年人學IPad、IPhone等。
At the same time, it cooperates with other clubs and institutions to jointly organize various cultural exchange activities. Currently, there are family gardening lectures, children's story sessions, youth history lectures, financial management lectures, Evergreen Club, the elderly learn IPad, IPhone, etc.
圖書館不定期舉辦圖書特賣及免費期刊贈閱活動，歡迎各界同胞、朋友常來中文圖書館！
The library organizes book sales and free periodicals donation activities from time to time. We welcome compatriots and friends from all walks of life to come to the Chinese library often!
